Choose The Right Career Path In Three Steps- Receptix

Choosing a career path is one of the most significant decisions of a person’s life. There are some people for whom it’s an easy choice, they have prepared for it their whole lives, they have known all along what they want to be. Others have a talent they nurture and choose to make it a highly successful career for themselves.

And then there are people who don’t really know what they want to do in life. They are not sure if they have any “passions” or if they particularly like doing something. And despite the thousands of job vacancies in India, nothing seems to catch their eye as such.

So they go out on a whim and pick a career that seemed like a good choice at the moment. But after spending eight hours a day, five days a week for uncountable years of their lives – not so much. As a result, most of the people are known to say that they hate their jobs. Truth be told, nobody wants to be a part of this group of people.

Here is how you can avoid it:

Evaluate Yourself

This might feel cliche- but the very first thing you need to do is figure yourself out. You need to be self-aware if you want to make the decision of what you want to do for a living. What is your personality? What are your interests? What kind of skills do you possess?

You need the answers to such questions because it will help you in defining your career path. And doing a thorough evaluation of yourself is necessary to find these answers.

For instance, if you are an introvert – a research-based job will be more suitable for you instead of a marketing job. On the other hand, if you are an extrovert – it will be the exact opposite. Or if you have great written and verbal skills then you might want to employ it for a writing job. Also, click here to find out more about backend jobs in Delhi

List Out The Possibilities

Once you have a good idea about your skills, interests, education, etc – it is time to create a list of possible career options that you might want to look into. List out any career that ticks out all the requirements you have, even if you don’t know much about them. Anything that appeals to you – write it down.

Once you have your list ready, start researching those options one by one. Dig out information from job sites, what are the requirements to pursue this career, what is the growth chart, what is the average salary, etc.

And when your research comes to an end, you will be able to shortlist your options and refine that list further until you find what you truly want to do.

Creating A Game Plan

Once you have a career option in mind, you need to make a solid plan about your next steps. Create short term and long term goals and draw a road map of how you will reach those goals. For instance, do you need to take a particular course for this career? Or are there any skills you need to learn or perhaps you have the skills but you need to enhance them further. A good plan will map out the next two to three years of your career.

In addition, you can also talk to professionals in the same industry to gain insight into how things work, what you need to do, which companies are your potential employers, etc.

Selecting the right career is important and can be quite overwhelming. So don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t figure it out in the first go. Things can’t happen in one day. Instead of trying to find the direct path to success – start by finding yourself. The rest will simply follow through.
