What is Embedded System – MICROCONTROLLER & MICROPROCESSOR

 EMBEDDED   SYSTEM INTRODUCTION:

                Embedded system is a combination of Hardware,Software and Operating System(Real time operating system).It is designed for a specific function or functions within  larger system.

eg:Mp3 players,ATM machines,Printers,Washing machine,Microwave ovens,etc…,

DEVICES:

  • Embedded system is based on Microcontroller and Microprocessor with external peripheral interface circuits.
  • 98% of Microprocessor are manufactured using Embedded system.
  • The Microprocessor and Microcontroller was developed in the early 1960,which is an integrated circuit chip fabricated from MOSFET(metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors).
  • Microcontroller is designed by Intel in 1981,it find applications where a general prupose computer would be too
  • The cost of microprocessors and micro-controllers becomes expensive analog components such as potentiates and capacitors with up/down buttons.
  • It contains Processor,Memory,Serial ports,Peripherals,etc..,

It is a portable framework for test web applications. The programming languages are PHP, java.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Small size and faster to load
  • More specific to one task
  • Easy to manage
  • Low cost
  • Spend less resources
  • performance is good but only less resources are used

 

DISADVANTAGES:

  • Difficult to upgrade
  • Troubleshooting is difficult
  • Nearly not scalable
  • Difficult to transfer data

  • Medical system  => Pace maker,Patient monitoring system,ICU.
  • Office equipment =>     Printer,Copier,Fax.
  • Tools          =>     Multimeter,Oscilloscope,GpS.
