The Increasing Price of SSDs and RAM in 2020: Complete Review on Reports

Over the last few months, RAM and SSDs were available at low prices. But according to the latest news, users might see a drastic change as the price of SSDs and RAM will increase soon.

This decision has been taken based on various factors. Especially the high demand for NAND and DRAM that has made a great effect on the SSD data recovery lab recently. For the last couple of years, we have seen an immense growth of SSD data recovery jobs that leads the SSD manufacturers to plan which helped to raise the price on NAND flash. Even RAM will also become more expensive.

According to the various reports, SSD manufacturers will increase the cost of NAND from 10-15%. Earlier we have seen the cost of the NAND fluctuates on a daily basis. However, last year due to the lack of demand, there was a drop in price. As a result, we see an increased demand for NAND flash memory and SSDs and their rising price.

Based on various reports, we can expect that in upcoming years NAND flash memory and RAM will be highly expensive. However, it has not been confirmed yet. Nonetheless, if you are interested in using SSD or some extra RAM, this is the right time to invest.

Everything You Should Know About RAM & Storage:

Let’s learn about RAM and storage in detail so that you can clear all your doubts.

Memory/RAM

RAM is known as a Random access memory where you can install on your computers’ motherboard. It allows you easy access to the data regardless of where in memory it is stored. In case you are using an old computer then, you can add more RAM and use it for storing more documents as well as larger files. For larger files, you need more RAM that not only helps you to store data but also improves the overall performance of your computer.

Storage

There are sometimes when you are not using your computer but want to make your data safe and secure. Moreover, the storage of your computer will help you to do so. You can even store your important data in storage and make your system turn off and data will be safe and secure in its place. The best advantage of having storage is that you do not need to reload and re-enter everything when your computer is off.

Due to this, almost all of us prefer to use storage on our computer. Here, you can get a lot of space and store all of your important applications. Documents and data as well as other important things that you are working on.

SSD or hard drive both are used as storage. In today’s life, almost every computer has SSDs or an option for an additional hard disk drive. But if you compare, you can get faster results with the use of the hard drive.

Is there any Difference Between Memory and Storage? Let’s Find Out

Though at first, it might seem that Memory or RAM and storage are the same only the terms are different. As both are used to store data, we use the terms interchangeably. But they do have differences.

Most of the time, people create confusion while they misuse the term. While Memory refers to RAM, storage refers to the hard drive. You can even use memory for storing data for the short term in case you need immediate access, on the other hand, storage helps you to store data for long-term, mainly for permanent access.

Consider memory as volatile storage, it means you can perform your moment-to-moment operations such as loading applications, browse the web and others. But when you switch off your device, the data will disappear.

On the other hand, Storage is considered to be a non-volatile. Here, you can store all your important files, applications, and operating systems. Even after turning off your device, the data will still there as it was before.

Whether you use memory or storage both are equally important for any device, especially for the functionality as well as for other reasons.

What will be the Effect if the Price of Memory and SSD Increase?

Technology is growing faster and we can see it in all the tech devices. Almost all devices including laptops, desktops or mobile phones are using RAM and NAND flash memory. So, we expect if the price of memory and SSDs will be increased, other technologies will be expensive. We can only hope at least the price will not be too high and average customers can afford that. Over we believe that it is the high time to purchase a memory or SSD and build a new computer.
