Beas River:

Beas is one of the most enchanting rivers of Himachal Pradesh which rises at an elevation of 14,308 feet in the central part of Himachal Pradesh at Rohtang pass. From here, this river crosses through the famous travel destination, Kullu Valley, and then, enhances the charms of Mandi by passing through it.

One can get spiritual and soothing vibes near Beas River as it has some mythological significance as well. You can also catch the sight of playful dolphins here; if you are fortunate enough.

Bhrigu Lake:

Tucked at an amazing height of 4,235 meters, Bhrigu Lake is situated in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Trekking lovers stop by the banks of this lake, before resuming their trekking expedition in the Himalayas, to adore the enchanting vistas.

You can also see many tourist camps near the lake which can be hired by anyone to savor the beauty of Bhrigu Lake. This lake was considered holy by a great Hindu sage Bhrigu and his followers.

Sutlej River:

Sutlej River is the longest among all the five rivers of Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful river originates beyond India at the Kailash Mountain and enters Himachal through Shipki which is located at an altitude of 6,608 meters. It covers a vast area of 320 km in Himachal and passes through major districts such as Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Solan, Mandi, and Bilaspur.

You can catch the sight of this river if you are going to visit any of the above areas of Himachal Pradesh. You can also enjoy amazing water sports like river rafting, fishing, etc. in this swiftly flowing river.

Chandratal Lake:

Situated at an altitude of 4,300 meters, Chandratal is a crescent-shaped lake which is why it is often compared with the moon. The name of “Chandra” is derived from the moon, and people also call it Moon Lake. Surrounded by the sky-reaching peaks of Chandra Bhaga range, this lake never fails to provide a memorable experience to the visitors.

People trekking to Kunzum Pass usually take a break near this scenic lake to feel the bliss of natural charms. There are many stories of Chandratal Lake that are related to the ancient legends of Mahabharata.

Chenab River:

Chenab is not only a popular river of Himachal Pradesh, but it is also counted amongst the top rivers of India. In terms of water volume, Chenab is the largest river of Himachal covering 122km of its area.

You can witness this river in the upper areas of Himachal such as Lahual and Spiti and districts like Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Jammu. You should add Chenab River in your sightseeing tour if you really wish to see and admire the beauty of Himachal Pradesh.

Dal Lake:

Don’t confuse this lake with the Dal Lake of Srinagar. The Dal lake of Himachal Pradesh is situated in McLeod Ganj, and it is named after the famous Dal Lake of Srinagar. Tucked amidst rugged mountains and dense forests, this lake is one of the top tourist spots of Himachal.

Dal Lake is flooded with tourists in the month of September when a special fair is organized here to mark the presence of Lord Shiva. This event is considered very auspicious by the Gaddi Tribe of that area. You can enjoy a great picnic here and indulge in boating and many other fun activities.

Yamuna River:

The Yamuna, being the eastern-most river of Himachal Pradesh, enters the state at Khadar Majri in Sirmaur District. People never forget to add Yamuna River in their sightseeing list as it is the largest tributary of the famous Ganges River. The tributaries of Yamuna River flow through many prominent areas of Shimla district and cover the total catchment area of 2,320 km.

Apart from Himachal Pradesh, this river also flows through states like Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.  Visit this river and dip your feet in the cold water for deriving a soul-soothing feeling!

Nako Lake:

Nako Lake, located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal, is the best place to experience the sheer natural bliss. The lake glimmers like a hidden treasure amidst the mountainous landscape. Due to its high altitude of 3,662 meters, it remains frozen for the most part of the year.

However, its frozen version is as beautiful as its liquid form. For religious people, it is like a treat as they can also visit the four temples built on its banks. You can also find many Buddhist devotees near Nako Lake. The popular footprint of their leader Lord Padmasambhava draws them here.

Suraj Tal Lake:

Considered one of the highest lakes in the world, Suraj Tal Lake is the third highest lake of entire India. Located at an elevation of 4,890 meters in Lahaul and Spiti Valley, this lake offers the mesmerizing natural views and serene vibes to the visitors.

People also consider this lake sacred and call it “Lake of the Sun God”. The reflection of snow covered mountains in the mirror like lake water is bound to win the heart of any spectator.
