How to Make the Most of Your Garden

If you’re lucky enough to have a large space of land at the back of your house, it’s important that you give it as much attention and investment as the rest of the house. Although it might not be an actual room within the building, it can add a huge amount of value to your property. Most importantly, it can be a space where you can enjoy some much needed sunshine and fresh air. Here are a few tips to make sure you’re making the most out of your garden.

Bring the outdoors inside

Many people claim they don’t have time to fully enjoy their garden. By the time you’ve put on your shoes and sun lotion, it won’t be long until you have to return to your busy day–o day lives. By introducing large windows or folding glass doors to your home, you can enjoy the outside even when you’re stuck inside working, cooking or completing other chores. As well as giving you a stunning view, they can let in much needed sunlight into your home.

For the biggest impact, choose a sleek system where you can see very little of the mechanics that make it work. For example, Cover Glass, Southern California’s framless glass window system, provides you with an obstructed view of your garden. As there are no bulky or garish frames surrounding any of the panes, it’s almost like you’ve removed that dividing wall between outside and inside. If it’s a hot day, you can even control the ventilation coming into the home by changing the gaps between each glass window. When it gets colder, the automatic interlocking of each pane prevents any drafts or moisture from getting into the house.

Surround yourself with bright colors

Now that you’ve got a reason to fully invest time and effort into your garden, start your redevelopment by choosing what you’re going to plant in your garden. Choose a palette of colors that go well together and that you like the look of. There is no right or wrong choice when it comes to gardening. It’s all completely down to the taste of the gardener. Try to choose a range of plants that flowers at different times of the year. Choose some evergreens to last through the winter months, but also some bright plants or bushes that will flower during each month of spring and summer.

Take a seat

Even if plants aren’t your thing, there are many ways you can still enjoy a garden. Even just having a lawn can give you a great view out of the window. Grass is extremely low maintenance, needing just a quick water and a trim every so often. If you do find yourself getting bald spots, just pick up some grass seed for a few dollars, sprinkle it over the affected areas, and keep it well watered.

If you don’t fancy surrounding your lawn with plants, consider buying some garden furniture instead. Whether that’s a full table and chairs, a couple of sun loungers or even something as basic as a beanbag or blanket, there’s a wide range of different products to fit everybody.
