A clean looking place allures everyone, not only does it exude a sense of cleanliness, but at the same time, it also exhibits a positive ambiance. However, many times, it has been seen that despite stringent cleaning efforts and mopping the floors several times with the best disinfectant and floor cleaners, the tiles appear to be dirty and messy. One of the reasons for this is the deposition of grout between the tiles. These give a very shabby appearance, and you can easily overcome with certain ingredients which are available at home. In this blog, we will be exploring different ways of tile and grout cleaning, which are going to leave the tiles spick and spank.
Method 1: A mixture of Baking Soda and Water:
This age-old homemade mixture can prove to be extremely useful if you are looking for tile and grout cleaning. All you need is a mixture of 3 parts of baking soda and 1 part of water. Make sure that the consistency of this mixture is paste-like. Now you need to apply it on the tiles, especially at the places where you can see grout deposition. This cleaner is absolutely harmless but very effective in cleaning the grout. You can use it on natural stones, tiles and limestone floorings. You can directly apply the same on the flooring or else you can also wear gloved. Leave them for a few minutes and then wash it with warm water.
Method 2: 1:1 mix of vinegar and water
Another common method of tile and grout cleaning that you can adopt is a mix of vinegar and water. They have to be in equal proportion. Use a spray bottle to spray this mix on the flooring, and you should be able to spot bubbling on the floor. It is a mark that the solution is working, leave it for some time and then wash it off with water. Here we would like to mention that you must not use this mixture on natural stone floorings.
Method 3: Use oxygenated bleach
You can make use of oxygenated bleach for tile and grout cleaning, for this you would need to mix two tablespoons of oxygenated bleach in 2 cups of water (preferably warm). If you want the best result, then you must make this mixture just before cleaning. Now mix the solution and spread it on the damaged area, Let the mixture work and clean it after some time. Make use of long bristle scrub or brush for cleaning the solution and making your way to the grout lines. The best thing about this paste is that it can be used on all kinds of tiles.
Another way of cleaning is that you dip the scrub into the solution and then use it to clean the grout lines. In case you notice the stains are stubborn, then you must make a stronger oxygenated bleach solution. Be sure to scrub in corners and around the floor’s edges as dirt and grime tend to accumulate here.
Once you have scrubbed the grout lines, you must wash the floor and mop it off.
Method 4: Use of H2O2, dish soap, and baking soda
Again all these ingredients are readily available in the house. The right proportion of the mixture is by adding ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide to ¾ cup baking soda, and one tablespoon dish soap. Here baking soda works on the grout while you scrub the mixture, H2O2 or hydrogen peroxide chemically works with baking soda relaxing the oxygen ions which removes the dirt and finally the dish soap is useful in getting rid of grease marks.
Once you have prepared the mixture, you must apply this using a nylon bristle brush and scrub the tiles. Let the mixture be there for at least 15 minutes and then you may begin with washing and mopping.
These were some of the common methods of tile and grout cleaning. Using them, regularly will not only keep the tiles look new, but will also enhance the longevity of the flooring. If you are not able to get rid of certain stains or grout despite regular cleaning, then you must connect with a professional tile and grout cleaning company.
