Here’s everything you need to know about the right time to opt for IVF!

When one talks about in vitro fertilization (IVF) it is crucial for women and their families to know about the suitable time to conceive. With increasing infertility cases in India, the advancement in IVF treatments has provided a solution to couples who can’t reproduce naturally. Keeping in mind the role of women in giving birth to child, we’ve often observed that the burden of not bearing a child often lies entirely on women. With IVF, we are not only providing an alternate solution to the couples but also empowering women by providing them autonomy.

Another thing which perplexes the couples opting for IVF treatments is about the right time to opt for it. According to medical expert, Dr. Fino Braganza, “Many women think IVF is their first option, but the reality is that many fertility doctors will ask you to try natural pregnancy first. If you’re 30 to 35, you should try for at least six months and if it’s not working, then you do a workup to see what to target.” It is highly advised to go through the natural conception process and then opt for IVF.

IVF is a complicated, labor intensive process which requires time, efforts and resources. Dr Gautam Allahbadia, a leading IVF expert, advices, “In today’s time, I believe, it is a sensible decision for couples to get their fertility checked even at a young age.” As we all are familiar with the phrase ‘prevention is better than cure’ Allahbadia’s advice stands in line with the current situation where couples tend to lose out on the chance of a healthy pregnancy while they are most fertile.

IVF

Although IVF treatment is not the first choice of couples and is successful only a little more than 50 per cent of the time, it is still advised to the couples who desire to be parents, says Dr Gautam Allahbadia. IVF is not a miraculous process, it requires physical and cognitive conditioning of couples, includes genetic testing and development of couples into childbearing parents. An excellent reproductive endocrinologist combined with persistence and patience can lead your way to build your family.
