UPDATE: RAPPER DMX HOSPITALIZED WITH SOMBER PROGNOSIS AFTER DRUG OVERDOSE
DMX Update, 50 years old, was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in White Plains (New York) at 11:52 pm on April 2. Earl Simmons, the “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem” emcee is in serious condition. Doctors have made a grim prognosis.
One source said that he was having brain activity. However, another source claimed that DMX was in a “vegetative” state.
DMX has suffered a long battle with drug addiction. The Yonkers emcee has been open and honest about his struggles. When a mentor suggested that he introduce a young Simmons to crack cocaine, DMX’s drug use started at 14.

DMX tells Complex that he passed the blunt around, and I hit it. It was the most bizarre feeling I’ve ever felt. Later, I found out that he had laced the blunt in crack… How could a child do that? He was about 30 years old and knew that I looked up to me. “Why would you do this to someone you look up to?”
He has tried to overcome his addiction many times. His last rehab stint was in October 2019.
After a year of tax evasion, the rapper went on a rampage and cancelled all scheduled performances.
“DMX checked himself into a rehabilitation facility as part of his commitment to putting his family and sobriety before anything else. He apologizes to his fans for cancelling his shows and thanked them for their support.

*UPDATE* DMX’s lawyer told PIX11 that the rapper had been taken off life support, and is now breathing on his own.
Murray Richman stated that he was in hospital due to a heart attack. “He has been removed from life support, he is breathing on his own, but it is concerning,” Murray Richman said. It would be disingenuous for me to suggest that I am not concerned at this point.
“Earl Simmons, DMX is, in my opinion one of the greatest poets our time.” He said that if people would listen and overcome their hatred of rap they could learn a lot.
