All About Wall Fountains

The decor is an essential part of every architecture in today’s world. A good set not only creates an impression on the visitors but also creates a sense of a comfortable environment for everyone. Interestingly, a wall fountain is widely used as a piece of decor across the world. They are small figurines through which water flows. They can be called mini fountains. But the difference is that a regular fountain is not attached to a wall. They can be put in the corner of a room, near the entrance, or in the backyard of a house. It depends on the size and type of the fountain.

Benefits of a Wall Fountain

Using a wall fountain as the decor has many benefits. The sound of the water flowing is calming to the ears. It gives the environment a soothing ambience. A fountain adds life to still surroundings. By listening to the relaxing sound of the water, one can meditate in peace, perform yoga, read a book, or even have clear thoughts. They are a beautiful source of outdoor decor as they are beautiful and require minimum space. It is that one spot in every person’s house that is calm, relaxing, and soothing to escape the harsh realities of life. Just by looking at the fountain, one can feel close to nature and connect with it. Such fountains attract wildlife. During summers, birds and other little animals get tired and look for a place to relax and quench their thirst. A wall fountain in the garden or a backyard is known to attract many birds. Wildlife enthusiasts must have at least one of these fountains in their backyard.

Factors to Consider

Style

There are many styles of fountains, such as classic, elegant, lavish, roman, minimalist, etc. There are different fountain styles from which to choose, depending on the area, price range, and design desired. For instance, a restaurant might select a lavish, ostentatious fountain, whereas a government facility might choose a simple one. The fountain size should also fit the area and coordinate with the outdoor fixtures and furniture. Another crucial factor to think about is the colour palette.

Material

The best materials to choose while creating a fountain are those resistant to heat, dust, rain, and acids from the rain. Most sprays are solid rocks that have been coated in polyresin, which is a polyester and resin mixture. Making a fountain also involves using fibreglass, ceramic, and concrete. These materials are more expensive, but their durability makes up for it. The material’s resistance determines how much extra value it adds financially. It becomes more pricey the more resistant it is.

Tips for Maintaining Fountains

i) Place it in the right location- A fountain away from trees will be less prone to dirt and dust since leaves, branches, and twigs can be avoided resulting in cleaner water and fountain.

ii) Adding vinegar- Vinegar is anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiseptic. It not only keeps the fountain clean but also prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi. It keeps away the insects from coming in contact with the fountain. It may not smell great, but it has a lot of advantages.

iii) Avoiding sunlight- Placing wall fountains in severe sunlight encourages the growth of algae, which spoils the fountain and the wall. With the growth of algae, termites start growing as well. They attack all the wooden objects in the house. Placing the fountain in a cool, shaded area is the best-suited option to avoid bacteria.
