5 Ways to Prepare Your House for Termite Treatment

Every year termite issues are quite normal in almost every country because these termites are not only getting an increase in number but also cause various diseases in the whole house. Termites are always searching for a new ground with fresh sources of food inside the house which only get cured by termite treatment. This swarming activity is how termite colonies spread to new locations and knowing the termite swarming season in your area is important so you can prevent them from making a new colony in your home.

Here are five ways to prepare your house for termite season which you need to take measures to prepare your home against a potential termite attack –

1. Eliminate all possible food sources for termite and their huge colonies –

Termites will create colonies in stumps, rotting logs, and any wood they can reach. To keep termites out of your home, you need to remove all sources from around your house. Stacked firewood and rotting landscape timbers are a couple of examples that involve wood mulch is another way that termites gain access to homes quite easily.

2. Remove the moisture present in your house or the surrounding –

Termites mostly exist due to moisture which means the source of water. Moisture in and around your home’s foundation provides an ideal environment for termites. Remove the moisture from your house as much as possible. Divert water away from your foundation and make sure your home’s water pipes are in good shape and not leaking. Be sure crawl spaces have adequate venting to prevent moisture from your surrounding.

3. Treat the soil and foundation before you build the house initially –

If you are building a home, be sure to get the soil and foundation treated and termite inspection as the first line of termite protection. While the upfront cost of these treatments may seem high, the protection your home gets is well worth the cost. The cost increases exponentially when the infestation has gone undetected for too long or has spread to multiple parts of the house insanely. Spend the money in the treatment or inspection processes and save yourself higher costs and more hassle in the long run.

4. Remove heavy brush and growth from around the house –

The higher growth rate of the termites against your home’s foundation provides a source of moisture and cellulose debris. That makes it the perfect breeding ground for termite growth. Keep the vegetation away from the house. Cut back shrubs and clean behind them on regular basis. A bit of prevention will help keep termites away from your surrounding.

5. Get your home inspected by an experienced termite inspection professionals –

If you live in a termite-affected home or surrounding then getting termite protection is a must step which you might think you can spot the signs of a termite infestation on your own, but the professionals know better. Most of the homeowners do not even realize that termites can even enter through cracks as narrow as the thickness of a piece of paper. They can come up through the blocks of your foundation. A termite inspector knows all the tricks termite populations use to enter inside the homes. They can find if you have a problem or not. You just need to ensure effective termite protection by using a verified and reliable termite inspector.
